Superb Rare Georgian 19c Antique Percussion Empty Gun Box Original Interior

LOVELY EARLY 19C SOLID MAHOGANY ANTIQUE PERCUSSION PISTOL GUN BOX - ORIGINAL FAB INTERIOR. 19c solid mahogany restored and repolished antique percussion pistol empty gun box. No missing or replaced timber.

Box retains its original solid brass carry handle. The pictures really do not do it justice. The box is attributed to General Lord Aylmer. His full name Matthew Whitworth- Aylmer and was the 5th Baron Aylmer. Born in 1775 and died February 1850.

The central solid brass central cartouche is engraved with his name, we are uncertain if this is original or not. There is a little bit of additional information that comes with the box and also shows this very same box with its once original full contents and the copy label attached to the inner lid. The small wood lid and knob inside centre to the box is original to the box. The box has its original velvet interior and is in pretty good order for its great age.
