RARE and HIGHLY desirable set! Fantastic looking set put out by Matchbox, only two sets were made utilizing this style packaging (a G5 Fire Station set is the other).
I can only imagine the reason these are so hard to find is because it was probably the tail end for these sets, and the packaging must've cost a fortune to produce and package! But WOW, do they look cool.
ALL original set, including the often missing packing piece/insert that sits on top of the roof, all parts on sprue, and vehicles and pump remain sealed in the bubble pack to the original cardboard base! Box is overall good-very good condition, considering the fragility. The cellophane window has been replaced by me a couple years back, and has been tastefully done, using the proper gauge cellophane, and minor tape adhesives on the inside on the box (does not detract from the display AT ALL).Box has some minor rips along the front corners (I reinforced these from the INSIDE as well). Sides and top panel are bulged out slightly, but nothing serious.
Minor edge wear and storage wear, but nothing serious. Has great, bold colors, and is certainly a fine example overall. Contents are excellent-near mint, as made. I don't believe this set was ever played with, nor displayed certainly not the contents in the bubble pack!
The factory glue on the seams of the service station has yellowed in spots. There is also some tape residue on the backside of the diecast header, and roof of the station this is ORIGINAL; these were taped down in the packaging process. You may be able to clean off the residue, but I did not attempt to do so. Original BP label on the side of the station present (it is curled at the edges a tad, could certainly be glued back down if so desired).Remainder of station has some minor scuffs and marks from storage, but no cracks, damage, etc. Remaining parts/contents are near mint, as packaged, with (if) any wear is from age and storage, but nothing serious at all. Overall a GREAT example of this very desirable and very attractive set put out by Matchbox! These rarely come up for sale, and if they do they certainly aren't this quality! Would be difficult to upgrade this one, considering the rarity and that it's quite nice overall! Don't miss this one! 9 1/2" wide by 7" deep by 4 7/8 tall. Any questions, feel free to ask! Sorry for any inconveniences this may cause. This is completely out of my control, and I apologize for any inconveniences this may cause.
